Florida’s Sustainability Growth Attracts New Businesses

Green Building Services Inc’s (GBS) specialty is consulting in green building and developments.  With the boom in sustainable development in Florida no wonder they chose Orlando for their new office back in 2008.  The numbers are good evidence.  There are currently over 40 green building projects and over 600 people registered LEED programs.  The demand is obvious and Floridians are stepping up to the plate.

On top of  helping set new sustainability standards and facilitating  the certification of over 100 LEED projects, GBS is also helping to create reference guides for LEED 2009.  To say they are busy these days would be a gross understatement.  Consider the declining economy and this paints an impressive picture of Florida’s green scene.  There are several huge projects being driven by sustainable ideas currently in motion.  The community of Destiny, Florida, the Anne Marie Plantation and the building of the new Orlando Events Center are just a few making headlines in the “Sunshine State” and across the nation.

GBS’ arrival adds significant depth to Florida’s roster of green builders and consultants.  The pond in Orlando is getting crowded, but places like Tampa and Miami are experiencing the same growth in sustainability.  If this trend continues we may be looking at a total re-branding of Florida as the green mecca of the south (sorry Alabama).
