ORANGE COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER, OUC, DOE FLIP SWITCH ON GIANT SOLAR ARRAY
1-Megawatt Rooftop Array is largest of its kind in the Southeast U.S.
The Orange County Convention Center, in partnership with OUC—The Reliable One, will flip the switch on its $8.8 million one-megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) system, the largest rooftop PV system of its kind in the southeastern United States during the Green Cities Conference. This multi-purpose project also features a Climate-Change Education Center (CCEC) inside the Convention Center to promote the many environmental and economic benefits of solar and other renewable-energy technologies. Senator Lee Constantine, Orange County Mayor Richard Crotty, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, OUC Board President Katie Porta and representatives from the Florida Department of Energy and Orange County Environmental Protection will be on hand for the ceremony.

THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT LONG-TERM ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS
Strategic Environmental Objectives and Targets Outlined in Disney’s First Comprehensive Corporate Responsibility Report
BURBANK, Calif., March 9, 2009 — The Walt Disney Company today announced a landmark set of strategic environmental goals and challenging 3 to 5 year targets to reduce emissions, waste, electricity and fuel use, and its impact on water and ecosystems.
The goals are part of Disney’s 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report, which details the company’s approach to critical corporate responsibility issues ranging from charitable giving to nutrition and from online safety for kids to workplace diversity.

COVANTA ENERGY NAMED “CLIMATE ACTION LEADER” BY CALIFORNIA CLIMATE ACTION REGISTRY

The California Climate Action Registry, a private nonprofit organization committed to solving climate change through emissions reporting and reduction, has named Covanta a “Climate Action Leader” for voluntarily calculating, verifying and publicly reporting its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under the California Registry’s rigorous program.

JOSEPH HOLSTEN TO JOIN COVANTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
FAIRFIELD, NJ, April 1, 2009 – Covanta Holding Corporation (NYSE: CVA), a world leader in the development and operation of large scale Energy-from-Waste and renewable energy projects, today announced the proposed addition to its Board of Directors of Joseph M. Holsten. OUC SETS NEW WINTER PEAK
Week-Long Cold Weather Drives Up Demand
ORLANDO - For the second time in two weeks, OUC—The Reliable One recorded a new winter peak today, reaching 1,091 megawatts. The previous winter record of 1,085 mw was set on January 22. Beginning Tuesday morning, OUC has seen demand continue to rise as temperatures dropped throughout the week. The OUC system performed exceptionally well during the cold snap.

OUC WINS STATE LINEMAN’S COMPETITION
Earns High Marks for Safety Record
ORLANDO - OUC—The Reliable One linemen took first place overall in the Florida Municipal Electric Association’s Ninth Annual Florida Lineman’s Competition in Orlando on February 28. OUC’s veteran three-man team of Richard Boley, James Alexander and Chris Hosier turned in the fastest time and a perfect score to earn the top overall trophy, beating out 15 other teams from municipal electric utilities throughout Florida. The annual competition tests the technical and physical skills of utility workers in one of America’s most dangerous jobs.
OUC’s team of Victor Mendoza, Dewey Harvey and Jason Drayton placed seventh overall and finished first in the Vertical Hurt Man Rescue event.

Palm City, Fla., U.S.A. — Sol Inc. (Solar Outdoor Lighting) has arranged for the donation of 42 solar lighting systems to 11 communities in Peru affected by the August 2007 earthquake. Philanthropists David and Susan Russell, who funded the donation with the assistance of practical Action of Peru and local governments, facilitated a partnership with Sol Inc. to ensure the donated lights were installed where they were needed most.
The solar lighting systems were recently installed in the Peruvian communities of Nuevo Amanecer, Marcas, Quilca, Yanapampa, Huancho, Buenavista, Tantas, Uchapa, Chacará, Huayao and Castrovirreyna. The solar lighting systems are lighting streets, pathways, and community
“plaza” squares.
