Cellulosic Ethanol Production is a Milestone

A leader in low-carbon cellulosic ethanol production has announced that their demonstration facility in Rome, NY is now producing non-food cellulosic biomass ethanol.  Completed in Rome, the plant is one of the largest nationally that converts non-food biomass into ethanol.
Biomass feedstocks include wood chips, grasses, residual corn stalks and sugar cane bagasse.

Getting handcuffed and booked has never been more environmentally friendly.  Since the New York Police Department decided to save fuel and reduce pollution by utilizing hybrid 2009 Nissan Altima sedans, the city has patrol vehicles that get twice the miles per gallon than previous fleet (35 mpg compared to 16-18 mpg).
